Walter Jeffers established Walter Jeffers Insurance Agency in 1997. Walter has been heavily involved in the general spread of agriculture business since 1974. Walter saw the need for Equine Liability to be passed in Pennsylvania and volunteered service as President for the Pennsylvania Equine Council from years 2000-2006. At that time the law was passed to provide some immunity to the Pennsylvania Horse Owners, the law is known as the “Pennsylvania Equine Liability Law”. Prior to that he was active in other aspects of the Pennsylvania Equine Council and currently serves as a Board of Director for the Pennsylvania Equine Foundation. Walter has earned the respect from the insurance industry by completing a Certified Insurance Educational Program and earning the insurance designation as a “Certified Insurance Counselor” (CIC). This enables him to provide his customers with the expertise advice and knowledge that he has gained from the extensive courses needed to achieve the designation. He continues to strengthen his knowledge by regularly attending educational courses relating to today’s insurance issues.
Teresa Jeffers has been involved in the insurance industry since 1991 with experience in the Volunteer Fireman’s Insurance, plus many years of experience in the Personal Lines Insurance industry including Property and Casualty as well as Life and Disability Insurance. She compliments the agency with her various areas of insurance experience and knowledge added with a personable and trusting customer relationship. She continues to better her knowledge in the industry with regularly completing educational courses relating to today’s insurance issues to better serve her customers. Teresa has been active in the farm/equine insurance since 2003 and has volunteered with various PEC events. She is committed to serving her customers with superior service and quality insurance products. Teresa has earned the Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) insurance designation which enables her to deliver proficient customer service and identify risk exposures customized to individual insurance needs.
Karen has been a licensed property and casualty insurance agent since 1994; she was originally in the company side of the industry in the volunteer firemen’s insurance underwriting area. She then went to the agency side and spent years in the personal lines industry. She is well versed in the needs of the typical homeowner who is looking for the basic residential homeowners, automobile, umbrella, snowmobile, motorcycle, etc. She is fluent in the equine world due to owning her own personal horses for 6 years. She is able to assist equine clients by combining her own personal horse experience as well as her insurance knowledge and understanding the unique exposures they face. As with any licensed agent she stays on top of industry changes by attending continuing education classes to maintain her insurance license. In her personal time she enjoys her hobbies of horse trail riding, gardening, instructing yoga classes as a certified instructor and giving back to the community as a member of the local Rotary Club.
